The Dryer

It's working swell, since it was repaired after the ravages of the December ice storm. In fact, it's performing a bit too well these days. Son3 got slapped silly by wet swimwear, then helped me retrieve two garments which blew from the line about 7 seconds after I'd pinned them. On this day, I was sure I'd be able to go back to the first line and begin removing dry garments, by the time I'd hung the final piece. Still a bit damp.

I was sure to snap long-range and motion photos, lest I expose anyone's wunderwears for all the world to see. Those aren't starched socks straining toward the skies. A multiplicity of pins gave me courage to leave the lines with a measure of confidence that the farmer down the road wouldn't show up at the door an hour later: "Is this your wunderwear?" *shudder* [We did once greet one at the door with a basket of eggs: "I think these are yours." It seems we had a hen who liked to cross the road to get to the other side and lay her eggs.]

I'm feelin' for this poor hen, who was holding her own against the dryer's blast. Just look at her neck feathers. And isn't her tail supposed to be in a straight line behind her head? Brings color to the phrase ruffled feathers.

For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places. He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries. ~Psalm 135:5-7

You're generous and gracious toward me, Ashley; thank you for your kindness.

Your own posts warm my heart, make me smile, and even remind me of days when our daughter was still at home...with her 4 brothers and enjoying with an adult perspective our Son4, as you do that precious little Sawyer.

And it's just nice to "meet" online, people with whom we'll be spending eternity. I've enjoyed your family through your blog. ~Vickie

I don't know which way the wind was blowing, but I'm surprised I didn't see your "wunderwear" come flying into my yard!! WHEW!!! (Loved your capture of "ruffled feathers"! Looked like that poor little hen had her feet planted firmly, but that was all.)
