Zooming in and out

Zoomer phoned me Thursday afternoon with, "How would you feel about having company this weekend?"

I guffawed.  "What are you talking about?"  She was talking about coming on Sunday for a visit.  I guffawed again.  In fact, we were on the phone for probably ten minutes, and my recollection is that my part in this conversation consisted of a whole lot of guffawing, then, "Okay, goodbye."  I really know how to roll out the welcome mat, don't I?

Zoomer lives on a mountain in California.  I do not.  Therefore, I do not expect Zoomer and her husband to be dropping by for a visit.  Mr. Zoomer, though, has a propensity for finding vehicles in Missouri, which he believes he'd like to own.  That's right, this isn't a first.  Ergh, Zoomer, sorry about all that guffawing.  We country folk tend to browse the local newspaper, when we're looking for a car, but hey, it works out swell for us when your Mr. shops nationwide.

So, we're looking forward to the Zoomers' arrival this evening.  And just look at me, all sitting here pretending the turkey is thawed (much less roasted) , desserts are made, the house is "company clean," and the laundry is all done-up.  Heavy on that laundry thing, since the sink in the bathroom is fake (don't ask), and everyone brushes their teeth in the laundry room — if they can get to the sink.

As Joycie would say, "Get 'er done!"

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.  ~Titus 2:13, 14

What Version?

I was doing a big ol' phone whine to Loo and finished, "Just listen to me: waa-waa-waa."

"Well, there's a time for waaing, isn't there," she replied.

"Yeah, I think so.  Ecclesiastes 3.  Look it up," I quipped.

She returned, "It sounds like the NIV, though."

"Maybe more like The Message."

Candy

When Nana picks up her SugarPlum, they always make a stop at Wal*Mart on the way to Nana's house.  It's sort of a rule.  While they're shopping, they have to eat popcorn chicken or popcorn shrimp.  That's definitely a rule.  This week, they had to buy a new Candyland game, because Nana's very old Candyland game must be out in a barn, by this time likely missing some double purples and perhaps even Queen Frostine...perish the thought!

First game, and the little urchin won.

What a plum.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.  ~John 1:1-5

Sunkissed Murdock

CowNotNot

This is Murdock, one of the spring chicks.  He lives with the CowNots.  He does.  I had to apply leaves to the photo, covering the evidence, lest anyone get a little queasy here.  I think Murdock is showy — not in a Las Vegas way, as Elvis is, but in a Martha Stewart way.

This is Murdock's Martha Stewart wing:

Here's his Martha Stewart tail:

and beard and eyeball:

I didn't want to stop looking at him, so I decided to dress him up.  We might call it paper dolls for adults.

I like this:

I don't like the next one at all.
Looking at it makes me feel bad.
This is a public service announcement:
Do Not turn your chicken into dots.

This is sort of a nice thing to do to your chicken:

If you feel like cuddling with your chicken, do this:

This, my friends, is a blogger chicken:

I'm not finished yet.  Tomorrow, you get to see Murdock in the sunlight.  Now don't go calling me in the middle of the night, begging me to hurry up and post the sunlit photos.  I'll get to it when I get to it.  Thank you.

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.  ~I John 5:20

Careers

Please tell me this child is preparing for a life in foreign missions and not the circus.

Painted Sky

These depict the progression of color spanning merely the time it took to travel a couple of miles down our gravel road.  Such artistry mere man could not mimic.  Glory, glory, glory!

Article -- The "Jesus" the World Loves

I've long been interested in the concept of designer gods, which are usually developed as an extension of self or a desire to be religious. We were all created with worship as a fiber of our beings, and if we don't bestow that worship upon The One True God, it'll land somewhere.  The following article is a thoughtful treatment of the topic.

"God did not draw pictures on the tablets He gave to Moses. His continual command to him and to His other prophets was to write down His instructions.  Visual imagery was at the heart of pagan worship used by people whose lives centered around idols--the chief by-product being unbridled superstition."  read more...

Zoomer's Beautiful Snow

Ratting on myself, it was I, rather than Zoomer, who was so impressed with her recent blanketing of snow.  Enjoy.  ºÜº

Grunchy

[Phone:"blah-blah ... blah, blah, blah ... blahblahblahblah..."]

Zoomer:(*lilt in voice*) Well, every day is a new adventure.

CarolineNot:  Now don't you go gettin' all Pollyanna on me.  I'm not in the mood for that.

Zoomer:*tinkling laughter*

CarolineNot:  Okay.  That's it.  You're fired.

Surmising Zoomer may simply be way too puffed-up happy about the beautiful 4" snow on her mountaintop, and since WE now have 2" and still falling, I decided to go check the thermometer just now — toss some rival weather at her:  Ah, 6.5º.  Yeah, that's it!  2" snow and falling, 6.5º.  Beat that, Zoomer!  Pride cometh before the fall.  I'm not a very observant person, but this time I happened to notice the print beneath the temperature reading:  DIE.

The label beneath that order/warning reads "DAY", so whichever of the fellows programmed the clock-therm gadget must have cycled it through to German or Portugese or Weasel-Latin.  My laughter doesn't tinkle, but I guffawed aloud over:

6.5º
DIE

Every day is a new adventure!
