Digging for Truth

HR3200
SEC. 246. NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS.

Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.

Barack Obama, 9/09/09:  "There are also those who claim that our reform efforts would insure illegal immigrants.  This too is false.  The reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally."

1.  To my knowledge, most of the people who are in this country illegally have "documents."  Therefore, they are not undocumented.

2.  FAIR:  "Let's be clear: there is nothing in the bill that expressly grants eligibility for the affordability credits to illegal aliens.  But so too, there is nothing in the bill that requires the use of a clear, specified verification method to determine eligibility related to legal status either. The absence of this requirement is a loophole that will allow illegal aliens to receive benefits, and it is this loophole that concerns the American people."  [FAIR - Federation for American Immigration Reform - Analysis Section 246 (pdf) - Full analysis of the current bill's loopholes for illegal aliens - "Affordability credits" and "plan enrollment" are not the same thing.]

3.  Confusion abounds when one considers illegal aliens can currently receive free (to them) health care, so why would they need health insurance of any sort?  Isn't this much ado about nothing?

Off topic:  "Jobs Americans won't do" suddenly changed during the Bush admin to "jobs Americans aren't doing."  At the time, I found this noteworthy, and all the more so now, as the unemployment rate rises.  Now, as before, it should be "jobs American's can't do" (because the positions are already filled by people who are here illegally).

A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.  ~Proverbs 26:28

I see what you mean, and that is a loophole that should be closed. Though if we do so, we should also make an effort to also close up the other loopholes the illegal immigrants take advantage of; such as the loopholes that allow them to receive medicare and welfare, etc.

BTW (this is totally OT) what is the little U smiley you use? :P

In July, the House Ways and Means Committee rejected Rep. Dean Heller's (R-NV) amendment, which would have required verification of identity to receive affordability credits or plan enrollment. I'm aware of no current plan to stop illegals from entering the country, filling jobs Americans need, breaking the budgets of health care facilities, and receiving American taxpayer assistance.

The smiley is achieved with these keystrokes: ALT 0220

To give her cheeks -- before and after -- ALT 0186

Now for my own help request...

Is it just us, or is Blogger consistently changing the font size on the Dashboard, sign-in, and comment forms? Today it's the worst ever, with a size so small I'm squinting and guessing whether or not there are typos. It's either 2 pt or 4 pt. HELP!
